How to rotate pages in a PDF

  1. Drag your PDF into the upload area or click Upload PDF. Files up to 50 MB are supported.
  2. Click a page thumbnail to select it, or set “Apply to” to All Pages or a page range such as 2-5.
  3. Rotate with the CW 90° or CCW 90° buttons, or type a custom angle and press Apply.
  4. Use Undo and Redo if you change your mind. You can also drag thumbnails to put pages in a new order.
  5. Click Download rotated PDF. The new rotation is saved into the file, so it opens the right way up in any PDF reader.

Common reasons to rotate a PDF

Scanned documents are the usual culprit. A scanner or phone app often saves a landscape page sideways, or flips one page upside down in the middle of a batch. Rotating in a viewer only changes how you see it on screen, and the next person still gets the wrong orientation. Saving the rotation into the file fixes it for everyone. It is also handy for wide spreadsheets and drawings printed in landscape, and for mixed documents where only one or two pages need turning.

Keyboard shortcuts

  • L: rotate the selected page clockwise
  • R: rotate counterclockwise
  • Ctrl + Z and Ctrl + Y: undo and redo
  • Enter: apply a custom rotation angle

Frequently asked questions

Does rotating reduce the quality of my PDF?
