How to convert JFIF to JPG

    1. Drag your .jfif images into the box above, or click to choose them. You can add up to 30 at once.
    2. Choose the output format. JPG is selected by default.
    3. Keep Keep original quality selected for a perfect copy, or choose re-compress to make the files smaller.
    4. Click Convert, then download each image or all of them together as a ZIP file.

    What is a JFIF file?

JFIF stands for JPEG File Interchange Format. It is not a different kind of picture: a .jfif file is a normal JPEG image saved with an unusual file extension. On some Windows computers, images saved from websites in Chrome or Edge end up with the .jfif extension instead of .jpg because of a system setting. The picture looks fine, but many upload forms, job portals, visa applications, social networks and older programs only accept files ending in .jpg, .jpeg or .png, so the upload gets rejected.

Why “Keep original quality” loses nothing

Because a JFIF file already contains JPEG data, this tool can simply save the same image data as a .jpg file without decoding and re-compressing it. Every pixel stays exactly the same and the file size stays the same. Choose Re-compress only when you need a smaller file, for example to meet an upload size limit; a quality of 80–90% usually looks identical to the eye while saving space.

    JPG, PNG or WEBP?

    • JPG – the best choice for photos and for anywhere that rejected your .jfif file. Accepted almost everywhere.
    • PNG – lossless and good for screenshots or images with text, but files are usually much larger than JPG.
    • WEBP – a modern format with small files, ideal for websites. Some older apps cannot open it.

Need to make the image smaller in dimensions too? Use our Image Resizer or Image Compress tools after converting. iPhone photos in HEIC format can be converted with the HEIC to JPG Converter.

    Frequently asked questions

Is the JFIF to JPG converter free?

Yes. It is completely free, with no sign-up, no watermark and no daily limit.

Are my images uploaded to a server?

No. The conversion happens inside your browser, so your images never leave your device.

Will converting JFIF to JPG reduce quality?

Not with the default Keep original quality setting. The image data is copied exactly into a .jpg file, so there is no quality loss at all.

Can I just rename .jfif to .jpg?

Usually yes, because a JFIF file is a JPEG. But renaming many files by hand is slow, and hidden file extensions on Windows often make it confusing. This tool renames and packages them for you in one click, and can also convert to PNG or WEBP.

Why do my downloaded images save as JFIF?

On some Windows computers a system setting tells the browser to use the .jfif extension for JPEG images. The image itself is a normal JPEG; only the extension is different.

Can I convert several JFIF files at once?

Yes. Add up to 30 images at a time and download them individually or together as a single ZIP file.

    Does it work on phones?

Yes. The tool works in modern browsers on Android, iPhone, Windows and Mac, including Chrome, Safari, Edge and Firefox.

Quick answer: Drop up to 30 .jfif images (50 MB each), choose JPG, PNG or WEBP, and download. Keeping original quality converts with no extra loss, and everything happens in your browser, so your photos are never uploaded.
