Strong Password Generator (Free & Private)

Generate random, secure passwords or easy-to-remember passphrases in one click. Created on your device with cryptographic randomness; nothing is sent or saved.

Quick answer: A strong password today is at least 14–16 random characters mixing upper and lower case letters, numbers and symbols, or a passphrase of 5 or more random words. Use a different one for every account and keep them in a password manager.

How to generate a strong password

    1. Choose Random password for maximum security or Memorable passphrase if you must type it from memory.
    2. Move the slider to set the length. The meter shows the strength and an estimate of how long it would take to crack.
    3. Tick the character types the website accepts. Some banks do not allow symbols; turn them off and add length instead.
    4. Click Copy, paste it into the sign-up form and save it in your password manager or browser.

How long should a password be?

    PasswordExampleStrength
8 characters, letters onlykdmrtqzbWeak: guessable in minutes to hours
12 characters, all typesq7#Lm2!vRt9eGood for most accounts
16 characters, all typesgenerated aboveVery strong: recommended

Length matters more than complexity. Every extra character multiplies the number of possible combinations, which is why a long passphrase can be stronger than a short password full of symbols.

Is it safe to use an online password generator?

Only if the password is created on your own device. This generator runs completely in your browser using crypto.getRandomValues, the same secure random source used by password managers. The passwords are never sent over the internet, logged or stored, and they disappear when you close the page.

    Password safety checklist

    • Never reuse a password on two websites; one leak would unlock both.
    • Turn on two-factor authentication (2FA) for email, banking and social media.
    • Avoid names, birthdays, phone numbers and words like “password” or “qwerty”.
    • Change a password immediately if the service announces a data breach.

    Frequently asked questions

    Is this password generator safe?

Yes. Passwords are generated inside your browser with cryptographic randomness and are never sent to our server or saved anywhere.

What is a strong password example?

A strong password looks random, for example q7#Lm2!vRt9e@Xw4, or is a passphrase of several random words such as Lemon-Orbit-Cactus-Silver-Drum7.

How many characters should a strong password have?

Use at least 12 characters, and 16 or more for important accounts such as email and banking.

    Are passphrases better than passwords?

A passphrase of five or more truly random words is about as strong as a 16-character random password and much easier to type and remember.

    What does avoid look-alikes do?

It removes characters that are easy to confuse, such as O and 0 or I, l and 1, which helps when you have to read a password from paper.

    Can I generate a PIN?

Yes. Choose the PIN tab to create a random numeric code of the length you need.
